Two dreary days we’ve had here – and the house is so quiet. Everyone is off to college or back to school and I am not enjoying the silence. But there is something about the rain, cleansing. Certainly a new season has arrived.. early!…. When Irene blew out of here, it seems as if she sucked the summer right out of the trees. They’re all turning already, or at least dropping leaves. So be it.
Can you believe the difference a year makes? Yesterday…
Last year…
One more dose of randomness….
I love Marthas Vineyard. When I step off the ferry into that other world
I get the distinct feeling I am home.
This year we did not get a chance to visit,
and so, feeling just a little sorry for myself,
I ordred the Black Dog’s 40th anniversary cookbook.
I love their menu, their casual retaurant –
and their recipes are delicious and easy.
It came today in the rain and I am doing that silly happy dance.
You know the one.
what a sweet almost-grown boy. and i love your wreath. and your rain…
Same weather here and I am enjoying some quiet, catch up time and loving your autumny photos:)
The difference in a year in those photos is truly hard to believe! So grown up now!
Haa! Love the delivery! My delivery was kitty pads for my breeze system litter box! Believe it or not – I did a happy dance. Like to keep my kitties clean!!!!
I can't believe the difference a year made. OMGGGGGG! I'm scared!
Your pictures really do make me feel like fall is in the air. We have very cool temps, too.
We went to Martha's Vineyard once a few years ago and I've always wanted to go back. We don't travel a lot so we have to be particular about returning to the same place twice. But I did love it there and I have a cookbook that I bought at the Black Dog. You've reminded me to pull it out!
XO,
Jane
Oh…wanted to say that your son sure has grown in a year! Wow!!
XO,
Jane
Oh to have that rain! But I know you are tired of it.
And oh how fast those boys grow up.
Would love to share a little bit of your rain. We're still bone dry and the fires are getting crazy.
What a handsome son Karen. We've had a lot of rain – Lee collided with a cold front here and left us with a bit of fall weather. Looks like a great cookbook. Off to check it out. Stay dry.
Sam
Awwww so handsome… then and now, but he sure has changed!
I've never been to MV, though we honeymooned on Nantucket 33 years ago!
I'm one of those weird people who loves to read cookbooks so I'd be thrilled with your delivery too!
Grace
Your little boy is growing up!!! Quite a change! I have not been to Martha's Vineyard in many, many years but it has stayed vivid and wonderful in my mind!
Enjoy your cookbook-what's for dinner? xo Diana
What a difference a year makes! Your son looks so much more grown up. What a good looking guy!
My kids leave for college on Friday. I am not really looking forward to my empty nest…. 🙂 I may have to lose myself in a good book for a day or two.
Have a great day and enjoy those new recipes.
Pam
Great weather as we vacationed up in Maine and today as we return … lots and lots of rain. Flights are cancelled. Ugh … the weather needs to STOP! Love the photos!
wonderful pics!!!
Hi Karen-I love how you change the photos at the front of your blog but OMG they and this post just looked so stunning and right-thanks=love dee
We are having the strangest weather. It went from the nineties to only 70 for a high today and cloudy and dreary. Love the picture of that wagon. That would look so good framed.
I have wagon and autumn wreath envy. *sigh*
Wonderful! Awesome!
Nice post! Nice pics!
Holy cow, Karen — he looks to have grown a foot! What a handsome young man.
Seems you and I are a bit nostalgic these days… I suppose the coming of Autumn can do that. 🙂
I can see the color changing in your pictures of a new season. And yes, the boy has changed. Hope it will be a good year for him; no longer the class at the bottom.
