And then there were Two

So I told you about the new fish, and the demise of poor Henry.  Today it was a miserable 15 degrees by the time the sun warmed everything up and I had it up to here with the hybernating we did over the weekend.  So… I got to thinking…. I had an old fish bowl that we used in the Artisan Gallery sitting under the sink…and I also had a need for something GREEN to counter all that WHITE outside (more to come….hey Alwhat  happened to global warming??).

I hopped in the car and gravity pulled me right down to the TJMAXX parking lot. Once I’m there I might as well go inside…and so I did.  I found these awesome crackled flower pots for $7.99.  Perfect size for my two Christmas cactus that were in need of more breathing room.   Then I got back in the car and  that darned gravitational pull kicked in again.  This time I found myself at Pier 1 Imports!… might as well go in.  And I found this awesome wooden tray, my most expensive buy of the day at $30.  Back in the car I go heading home, and wouldn’t ya know…gravity – right at the doorstep of JoAnns fabrics – where I found this awesome moss and moss covered rocks for $3.99.  Joann’s is right down the street from an aquarium supply store….well I couldn’t leave a fish bowl empty…and I had this plan, you see.

To make this…

The two kings in their side by side kingdoms  have already exchanged sentiments…..

If I could only find a mini three inch version of one of these….

  1. LOVELY! And I need a tiny gnome — for ummmm something. I swear! (In my back garden I have Dwarfs instead of Gnomes – as in Happy and Sleepy the dwarfs from Snow White)

  2. Great Job!!! I know ALL about that PULL thing going on in the car…

Your kitchen looks terrific and I do believe the neighbors will get along just great in their new quarters!!

  3. I love your kitchen counter vignette–in fact I think will get a beta to cheer up my dreary kitchen!

Actually,I've been collecting antique aquarium ornaments for some time now since I saw in an old Mary Engelbreit Home Companion magazine that she collected them. All of a sudden I started noticing how charming they were in the antique & thrift shops I frequent. Seeing how good your Christmas cactus looks in that distressed pot makes me realize it's time to get mine out of the "holiday" pot it's in!

  4. Fish #1-Hey, did you hear about what happened to Henry?
    Fish #2-Yup.
Fish #1-So, who do you think she will murder first? Me or you?
Fish #2- Whoever needs their bowl cleaned first.
She seems to be lacking in the skills dept. on that one!
    Fish #1-Oy.

  5. I see a session with Polymer (sp?) clay coming up for you. You can make your own 3" gnome with that stuff! And what, pray tell, are you going to do with him? Put a fishing pole in his hand and hang a hook into the fishbowl(s)? Just a question in light of your previous "record". xxoo Diana

  6. I love it; it looks very nice there. I like live things. After reading your story about the fish, I went into the pet area at Walmart today. They had 3 betas that really needed rescueing; they looked so depressed in their little jars with nothing to do or look at. It was windy and snowing, so I wasn't sure he'd make it home, but you've sure got me thinking about it now!

  7. Loved the peek into your house, we want a tour! Great idea with the Betas, they are fun to watch and very territorial so it will be good for them to see each other from afar…

  8. That darn gravity. Pulls you in so many unsuspected directions LOL
Very decorative. The fish are very elaborate. Weren't you pulled to larger fishbowls for the poor guys/girls?
Your house is just gorgeous. But you knew that already 😉

  9. I was really trying to look at your fish but, I got so distracted by the beauty that is your kitchen!!! Oh my, can I live with you???

  10. I love the story of the betas:) They are really beautiful fish…love that teal…All in all what a nice way to spend an unbearably cold day!
