Let them

I have been struggling with something that was for me a shock and a painful realization. 60 years of living teaches you a few things, though… . So take this or leave it, if it helps you navigate your own situation, I’m glad I shared my thoughts for what they’re worth.
You are not ever going to get everything right or please every person who travels through your orbit, inevitably that’s the nature of this human experience. We all have our stories, our beliefs , trials, scars, our fears, joys, triumphs and sorrows…. and our own way of navigating our lives. You are the only person who will ever know all your true intentions, and your heart. If you know absolutely that you move through life doing the best you can where you are, and are a genuine friend to those who give you their friendship, it’s enough. What other people will value or not, what they will say or the opinions they will form and for whatever their reasons, those things are their choices to make in the life and experiences they are living.   – Let them.

  1. I’m so happy that you are blogging again. As I read your posts, I gain a sense of relief that I am not alone in my feelings about the current state of affairs in this country. I find myself struggling with feelings of anger, fear and disbelief to the point that I have to fight the urge to isolate myself from family and friends who I feel have “drank the koolaid”.

I would also like to thank you for your inspirational posts about your paintings. I dabbled in oil painting until a family came along and I returned to work. Now years later, I’m retired and experimenting with watercolors. I’m nowhere close to your level of talent, but it does bring me joy and a sense of peace. Take care!!

    1. I replied to this comment early, Linda.. not sure what I did that made it disappear, my apologies. thank you for the kind words here, such a nice thing to read this morning with my coffee and continued disbelief at how far down the rabbit hole this country is going. Do not ever discount your own talent… and joy and peace are everything – so keep doing what you’re doing. And thank you for stopping in!

  2. Karen, Just stumbled across your delightful treasure of a blog. I am a NY transplant to The Quiet Corner of CT, living in a 1730 home that has been in his family for about that long. It is replete with amazing history and documents We, too have chickens and other animals, my naybor (see what I did there) has horses and some beautiful cows across the lane. I love your photography, art and attitude. I look forward to communicating with you soon! all the best – Cate Bassett
