Back in the Saddle

  I will admit right here that I am a fair weather rider.  We pretty much took the winter off, Opie and I.  He wasn’t complaining.  The weather has taken a turn for the better, however. Even the may flies are out!  Yesterday I clean him up, tacked up and went for a ride in the fields and forest.  It was a beautiful thing.  One of the things I love about my little horse is.. he doesn’t need to be lunged or “worked down” before I get on him, even if it’s been months.  He’s a steady guy and just the right size at 15 hands.   He’s not a plug either, you definitely know you have a horse in your hands.

  2. I'll bet your butt and thighs are screaming this morning. Taking the winter off, then getting out for a ride is a great way to wake up those lazy winter muscles.

  4. Riding makes me feel so alive. My allergies are ruining some of my riding opportunities, but I ride year round so I have to tell myself that a few days really doesn't matter.

  5. How fun to finally get out and ride! Are you sore today? I remember once I went horseback riding and when I slid off I went straight to the ground. My legs couldn't hold me up. It was hilarious.

    And whats that big cookie cutter looking thingy in your bucket of brushes?
    Note to self: Google "lunged" and "worked down."

  14. Oh My Goodness, I don't' get envious very often, but right now looking at your amazing horse photo shots make me Envious with a big e…..I have always, always wanted my own horse and it's just never worked out , Yet anyway.
