hip the miracle dog!!!… His dad brought him down to the event this afternoon to visit and he was immediately surrounded by all Dog Days Volunteers who came to love him. Once again I’m going to post a “before” pic below so those of you who aren’t familiar with the case can see what love can do…and how FAR this boy has come.
At kill shelter…
He was pulled from the kill shelter and brought to Lorin of Dog Days…
where with Lorin’s excellent care and many of your $ contributions,
Chip recovered.
This was about three weeks into treatment…
And this is Chip today!
It was so awesome to see him again.
I left the event half way through the day, and will return tomorrow..
so far atleast 40 of the approximately 60 dogs have been adopted…
the response is always amazing to me… so many people want to
help these dogs. Both the dogs and the people walk away together
with renewed spirit..true, this!
Some updates…
For these two it was love at first sight!
Our favorite tiny little thing went home with a volunteer.
There were three of us standing huddled together.. me holding the precious girly girl.
I call home…Husband says “NO”….and then some.
Second of the three of us says..
“if she doesn’t get a home, I’ll take her. I don’t care what my husband says”.
Third one of us says.. Hmmm… let me see what MY husband says.
a text…
and then…
“whatever your heart desires, dear“.
I promptly handed the little girl over and she was immediately
adopted by the volunteer with the husband of the year.
The following are also new families…
And this is me showing remarkable restraint while holding two precious pups
I did eventually let them go 🙂
….both went to the same family, so brother and sister will stay together.
It’s a beautiful thing.
One more day for the remaining dogs and puppies…
and some shopping too!… so if you’re local.. Saybrook Stop & Shop Plaza, 10-6 Sunday.
Oh my gosh… Chip is SO handsome and I'm extremely jealous of the volunteer that took that tiny little thing! (But I'm sure you know that)
Chip looks fantastic! As well as so very happy! I love all the pictures of the new happy families. You are doing a very wonderful thing here. Bless you.
Oh how nice to see Chip! And all those wonderful new doggie families. Thanks for sharing such happy photos.
Check out that Chip! No one would know it was him just by his looks. He's fabulous.
What? Your husband did not get 'husband of the year'? Throw a tomato at him. LOL
Wonderful seeing Chip so healthy; that truly is a beautiful thing.
Congratulations to all the proud and happy new owners; some very, very cute dogs.
Oh my…that first pic of Chip still makes me sad!…but the new picture..unbelievable!!…yippee for Chip and all the other pups with their new families!
Seeing Chip's transformation made my heart smile.
There IS goodness in the world. There is.
Thanks for keeping us updated on Chip!
Chip looks so good. Looks like a successful day.
The beautiful thing I'm also seeing here is you. You are such a beautiful person. Such a caring soul. You warm my heart.

Oh, this is such a heartwarming post, Karen. Go Chip!
Oh Karen I'm glad to see chip is doing so great !!!! Have a great weekend
Love this post, so glad to see so many dogs go to good homes! And Chip, what a handsome boy!
What a WONDERFUL recovery for Chip! Kudos! I'm so glad for all the happy dogs and people!
I went there today at around 2:30. What an amazing turnout. Broke my heart that I didn't get one. Maybe in June when they are in Chester. Heck who knows maybe tomorrow I can convince hubby.

Chip is a superstar! Kudos to you and all the folks who took home babies today!
So nice to see Chip! He looks fabulous – and very happy. I bet he has the same wonderful sense of gratitude as my sweet Elsie, who was rescued as a stray.
look at all those happy dog faces!!! (and their new humans, too) You must have been completely exhausted by the time you went home.
Love seeing how far that dog has come – and how happy he looks now!
Also, can you buy husbands like that? Whatever your heart desires dear? I didn't even know there were husbands like that out there…I've certainly never heard that phrase in MY marriage!!! I'm thinking SHE ought to send HIM flowers! 😉
Karen,
Even thought I live in Florida, I was so tempted by the photos of the Papillon yesterday. If only there had been some way to get him!
My daughter lives in New York and adopted one last year. They have some issues (teeth), but he is a sweetheart and has visited here. Now, I am looking for one! Keep up the good work that you are doing. What a wonderful, wonderful thing to be involved with. Also, really heartwarming to see the new photos of Chip and so very kind of you to keep us all updated on his new life. He looks very much loved!
This post brought tears to my eyes, so happy for the dogs and the humans! 🙂
WOW, Chip looks like a totally different dog!!! He's grown too! Looks so happy! And YAY for that husband who said YES to that adorable dog!!! OMG, if I was there, I would have wanted the Papillon!
I'm sitting here crying looking at the pictures, especially the ones of Chip!! I love that he's doing so well and has another human who cares about him. What an amazing story.
I hope today is another very successful day for everyone!
Pam
I'm quite a ways from Old Saybrook, Karen but the pictures you provided resonate the LOVE both from the new owners and the dogs!…:)JP
OMG Karen – I could not be more shocked at the difference in Chip! It warms my heart that that handsome boy was saved. Kudos to all of you and your important work. Sniff!
Good news all and Chip looks fabulous!
That Chip….amazing. Hard to believe it's the same dog. Poor guy, sure looks happy now. What a great event.
There were so many dogs in this post that I would have loved to take in if I could! I am happy that the event did so well!
A heartwarming post. I'm surprised you resisted in spite of what hubby said. Guess you would have been in the doghouse if you took home a "friend."
