Dogs in Desperate need of a home

Time is running out for these dogs… if you or anyone you know might be interested in meeting one of them, their information is below each picture.  All are healthy, family friendly, in Connecticut.  Unfortunately, people have given their  breed a bad rap, so it’s always more difficult to find homes for them. In truth they are wonderful dogs, loyal and loving.  These girls deserve better than what life has handed them so far.

Gigi is the SWEETEST girl, an American Bulldog mix, she plays well with other dogs, cats probably not so much. She’s had a sad life, bounced around and now basically in boarding and deteriorating – she’s about 2, is energetic and LOVES kids,  but may not do great with a tiny dog.  Gets along fine with my dogs here – she’s a love.. Contact Lorin at lorin@godogdays.org

Euthanasia date one week from today…..

Ivy, another beautiful girl… is very depressed, stressed and deteriorating in the shelter. She has lost a lot of weight which at this point will only be regained if in a new home or quieter environment. She only has a few weeks to find a new place to go…The shelter can’t let her suffer any longer. One-year-old Ivy is a large handsome girl that is full of energy and love. She is a very friendly dog that with steady direction will make a perfect companion. She loves to play with tennis balls but will not bring them back to you. She will try to get a little jumpy but will obey commands to calm down. She walks well on a leash and loves to be petted. She should live with kids 12+. You can also see Ivy’s video at www.youtube.com/fotnhas NO APPOINTMENTS NEEDED. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING THIS PET PLEASE VISIT THE SHELTER MONDAY – SATURDAY 12:30 – 4:30 OR CALL

  1. Oh my gosh…this post made me cry. I just can't stand it. So unfair. We are currently trying to adopt one from a no kill pound who has been there 9 months. All of our furbabies are rescues.

  2. You know how I feel about these dogs. My granddog is the most amazing dog I've ever seen and I trust her completely around anyone, including my grandchildren. It's people I don't trust and some of them should be euthanized for what they've done to these animals!

  3. So sad. I am always a sucker for an animal in need, but as I live in Aus i can't help. Maybe some other bloggers could spread the word.

  4. Oh I hate this as a dog lover it kills me. I better stick with my two for now I've already been told I can't get more dogs till wife gets a mini horse (totally unfair) have a great day

  5. Dogs like Ivy respond better to calm energy. My George (American Staffordshire Terrier) gets crazy if we ever holler at him. He does so much better if I make him sit and behave.

I wish I could have five of these dogs. There are seriously the sweetest things in the world.

Very very few people can resist George's charms. He's a lover of the scratching and is a huge leaner and goes in for hugs when given an opportunity.

Why I'm yapping on and on about my dog is puzzling except I want to show everyone that these dogs will give back way more than you give them.

    It breaks my heart.

  6. Oh Karen I remember GiGi! Ughhhh, makes me so sad to see this. I can from experience that adopting a dog in need has been the best experience for me and my family!! Makes me feel so good that I saved a dog's life!! I hope these beautiful dogs will get that chance…

  7. It is heartbreaking to see what a kennel environment (even with the best quality of care) can do to a dog. The noise, the stress, less human contact that they are used to.

Years ago one of the dogs I raised for Guiding Eyes had the equivalent of a nervous breakdown when he went to their kennel for training. He came back to us instead of becoming a guide dog.

The softest sweetest dogs seem to have the hardest time.

  8. Oh if only I didn't live so far away! So not fair that these beautiful dogs must suffer like that.
My prayer will be that a forever home comes to get them.!
