Words from their website….

“DOG DAYS is a non-profit, mobile “pop up” shelter dog adoption event in Connecticut. Our event philosophy is based on the premise โ€œit takes a village to rescue a dogโ€ and we rely on the community volunteers, merchants and civic organizations from the town that “hosts” our event, to take part in the adoption weekend.
Each event will have 80 dogs for adoption, 40 large breed dogs and 40 small breeds and puppies. They will all have been seen by a vet, current on all shots and spayed or neutered. Rescues from around the state of Connecticut are invited and beyond if we can’t find enough dogs to fill the event. Training demonstrations as well as grooming information, diet, veterinary care and more are at every event to help a new adopter take care of their new best friend. “

I can’t tell you how excited I am to be able to help out with this event…
Lord help me  find the strength to not bring home another dog
lest I want a divorce immediately thereafter.
I suppose that will depend on the day.
More to come….

  1. Congratulations Karen! The pictures are so cute!

I really laughed about another dog/divorce. You crack me up.

    Have a great day.

  2. Oh, you know me so well! I would LOVE to help out at this event. I will email you!

    Helene

  3. Ohhh I want one! Watch out, the 5th from the bottom is making it hard for me to breathe… oh my heart! So excited for you!

  4. Thank you for promoting these dogs in need … there are so many of them out there that simply need a good home, and some plain old-fashioned loving!!!! Your post is very special. Saving one dog doesn't change the world …. but it does change the world for that dog!

  5. Well, I only have three… I suppose I could sneak another one in without you-know-who noticing. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sounds like a great event. Congrats!

  6. Good for you! We can't have another dog as we discovered after the death of our last dog that my husband's health markedly improved. We think he had a low level allergy all the years we had the dog.

  7. Thank you so much for doing something like this. They are all just so precious. We rescued a dog last fall and she has given us so much joy that words cannot describe. I'm so happy the world has kind-hearted animal lovers to help these little furbabies.

  8. Awesome and I wish I could go.

I have rescued every pet I've had for the past 20 years. Maybe longer? I'll have to think about it for a minute.

George and Calvin being my latest. Rescue organizations are the best.

  9. Ooh, I wished I lived closer, Karen! Thank you for opening up the farm for this event – if only everyone was so generous and caring when it comes to dogs and cats (then we wouldn't need such events, right?).

Loved the pics – I have tears in my eyes at the love and joy I see on both humans and dogs' faces ๐Ÿ˜‰

  10. How great that you all are doing this, Karen! You'll probably want to keep at least one or two. ๐Ÿ™‚

The second one from the top looks so much like the puppy my nephew and I rescued a long time ago, Miss Beatrice Potter aka BeaBea. She was a puppy then, and had been shot, left at a dumpster. We took her to my brother's, and he had her for over 12 years. They really loved her, and took such good care. She epilepsy, but lived a good life! ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. What a great idea. Good for you. After I show my wife this post, don't be surprised if you see a car with PA license plates pull up.
    Good luck.

  12. You may be the sweetest person I've ever not met! Good luck with the event..and if you are homeless from bringing home another dog you know you can always shack up here in AR. Happy Easter Sweetie!

  13. You're so wonderful for helping! Three of our four dogs are foundlings, meaning they were dropped by the side of the road and we picked them up and brought them home; all of our cats are foundlings, one horse and one sheep were rescues. Dave told me yesterday, it's about time for me to find some more kittens. I told him I'm sure some will be along shortly.

  14. Good luck with the event. Hopefully lots of dogs will find good homes. Wishing you strength on not adopting another cutie.
    You'll probably need it ๐Ÿ˜‰
Wish I lived close enough to you…

  15. That is just awesome that you are involved in the dog rescue! I am a huge dog lover, so this subject is near and dear to my heart! Once we get settled out here, I want to start volunteering at the local shelter. And I know just what you mean about it being hard to not bring them all home:) Love that adorable little pup in the first doggie photo!!

  16. Oh Karen! I've missed reading your blogs, especially this one! I would love to help! Heaven help me if I see a little puggle!!! I know my daughter will want to help out too!
