A co-ed bonfire among a dozen or so 15 year olds, where….
They cooked their own food.
They were responsible stewards of the field surrounding the fire pit,
which they built all by themselves the day before.
They cleaned up after themselves!
The party broke up at midnight, when it was supposed to.
No complaints from the neighbors.
The teen years.. mood swings? Check.
Trials and tribulations? Check.
The exhiliration and pain in the move toward maturity? Check.
Last night, there were no thorns on the rose.
I’ll take that.
You didn’t think they were gonna let me go up there and take pictures, did ya?
It's really awesome to hear of responsible youth! Glad you had no thorns! 😉
Some day we will be older and wiser and they will appreciate us. But I'm sure they appreciated their privacy too on such a beautiful night!
We reap what we sow…your crop is starting to come in!
oh, awesome! i wish i was 15 again and could have joined them!
There's nothing like good kids, take it from a middle school teacher!
I love when a fire party goes well. With kids that are 20,21,and 22 I remember all this too well. Our yard was always to small and my kids would go berserk when I would call the other parents to ask the particulars of the fire pit party.
No, I didn't. Because that would have been wrong. But I like the one you did take. Enjoy this weekend, Karen ~
It looks like they had a wonderful night and you were a very COOL mom to let them take on the responsibility of their get together. Love that moon!!
XO,
Jane
No way would they have let you!! At least they cleaned up!
Sometimes moms just need to stay away. 🙂 Love the moon shot you did get!
Oh yeah! I love it when a plan comes together! hahaha! Maturity certainly is a journey…and your kids seem well on their way!
Glad to hear all is well your way.

Ah, to be 15 again!
NOT! Wouldn't go back in time for nada! But, it was fun when I was *there*!
Wonderful weekend to you!
xo, misha
How lucky are you!!! The teen years for us, were like reliving the terrible twos, only they were bigger and cost more.
Awww, I love them!
Oh my! I remember having a house full of teenagers! What fun! I had 4 sons…and lots of bonfires! Enjoy this special time! ♥
No thorns is a good thing! Enjoy. They'll be gone before you know it.

Gotta love teenagers like that! xo Diana
I was hoping.
Looked like a beautiful night for a bonfire. Glad to hear another redeeming story about teenagers. No – seriously, I have two still at home and those stories are rare and far between. Have a peaceful weekend.
It looked like a beautiful night for making the memories that they will fondly look back on! You will be part of those fond memories, after all you made them happen!
This is one of the NICEST posts I have ever read…it makes me miss my kids teenage years. And I love that ending:)
