When this old house was put back together, the Man of the house claimed this area as his MANCAVE. THIS would be his place to be by himself enjoying peace and solitude while he hollered and sweared as he watched his football games by a crackling fire. The rest of us could congregate around the other side of that fireplace in the FAMILY ROOM, because THAT’S what it’s FOR.
See.. once you DECLARE something like that in a particularly burly tone accompanied by a steely resolve, it doesn’t usually stick. Most often, even when we have company, everyone congregates in the Mancave. Even though it only accomodates four people comfortably, (which I’m sure was his intention) … sometimes you’ll find six making do.
Before…

It originally had old furniture from the previous house, and would only allow for THREE people to sit comfortably. We decided, since it has become the hub, to get more comfortable furniture, and I really like the result.
What a really nice Man Cave! Love the fireplace and the built-ins. And that ottoman is fantastic!
I haven't tried LED candles. I may have to check them out!
Wow, I hope my husband doesn't see this and realize how much cooler other man caves are than his…
I love it. What a cozy and inviting room. I might have to kick him out!
Love this!!! We have new furniture on our list of things to do, but we have to wait. Maggie claws the crap out of things, and I'm afraid that she'd lock onto anything new and I'd have to kill her … which I can't do because it would be a waste of all the money I've put into vet bills for her over the years (she is the world's most expensive PetsMart cat.) Anyway, love the furniture and your room, and I still swoon over your built-ins. The Mr. doesn't REALLY want to be alone, now does he. Football is much better when shared with friends and family,
I like LED candles and have some t-lite ones that I place in our guest bedroom and bath as night lights. They look great and because they are so small serve well as night lights.
Great looking room, Karen! I need new furniture so badly I could cry.
Oh that is so warm and cozy. Could I take a nap in there? Just make sure everyone is quiet for about an hour for me, okay?
very nice and comfortable looking!
Oooooo totally comfy!! Love the mancave!!
LOVE! We have a Vermont Castings insert with gas logs, NOT the same thing! My husband grew up in Florida, he does not understand the need for a real fire….
I am pretty sure I would make that the "women's cave"- what a great spot to curl up with a book! But I definately see watching football as well. I get the LED candles from Costco (they always have them this time of year) which I love because they have a timer on them. They go on at the same time every day and turn off 5 hours later.
Oh such a pretty and inviting room. No wonder everyone always wants to be in this room. Gorgeous. The new furniture is wonderful. Hugs, Marty
that's a great room…..it looks so inviting this time of year. fire in the fireplace. yes please !!
and the update on chip just warmed my heart…..xo
I can see why everyone wants to be in there! To heck with mancave, I'd like my family room to be like that, although I'd be a little nervous with the ottoman so close to a roaring fire… with my luck, it would decide to spit out something hot.
I love small cozy rooms like this!
And the new furniture is perfect!
How does hubs feel about his man-cave
becoming a family-cave!?
Have a great day, Karen 🙂
xo, misha
Very stylish and cosy. I see you have a luuuvseat (can't say it any other way). We've just bought two luuuvseats too and the dogs and cats have totally approved of them. I have been meaning to take photos of our 'new' living room and dining area, with the new windows and so forth, but it is always such a mess around here… 🙂
Are you kidding me? My man cave consists of one end of the couch in the family room.
I could live in that mancave. But, I'm a little disappointed.
The man seriously caved! LOL
What a fabulous cave Karen. It would make any man (or woman) happy. I'm not familiar with the candles. Great idea. I'll check them out.
Have a great fall weekend.

I m in love with everything about your house as you know , but as far as rooms go this is my favorite. Being a man I would love this room for watching my sports by the fire WOW!!!!
I want to come sit in the man-cave by that fire. I like the walls whatever that is. LED is okay. I do like the ones that flicker. I have seen some that have actually fooled me from a distance.
Your's hubby's man cave is really upscale compared to my hubby's! LOL!!! What a cozy room! I love it! I don't know if I should show this post to him or not . . .
I don't have any of the LED candles, but one of my friends does and I love them, they are even wax! I like that they flicker!
Ciao!
Mary
What a wonderful, cozy, dream of a man cave! I love it..it looks warm and comfortable. Love all your candles too! I have to get some of those things..I worry about having any candles burning when the kids are here. I can just see SweetCheeks setting the curtains on fire, can't you?
BTW- LOVE your header…it is spooktacular! xo Diana
I am more than just a bit envious!
My husband has his mancave — sorta. It involves a black leather lazyboy pit set and a big screen tv. I only enter after 7 pm. 😉
Yours is much more user-friendly; but I image you have more childrens and company than I do.
It's beautiful in that there mancave! 🙂
