An old fashioned tree lighting

It’s a wonderful thing….
Town folk gathering together
not to debate an issue
not to argue politics
not to weather a disaster
not to mourn a loss
But to enjoy the spirit of the season
together, united.
For nothing but JOY..
the best gift life has to offer.

  1. why isnt there more things like that . We were watching a movie over the weekend and there was a tree lighting and carols being song . Sounds cheesy but I would love to live in a tight and small community like that!!!!!

  2. Karen,

Thanks for posting the pictures from last night. It was great seeing all these people of all ages gathering together for just "old fashion fun" It was a real "community" event. The Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Women's Organization, Historical Society, Fire Dept.and the Boy and Girl Scouts all took part. Good community feeling.
Your first picture happens to be my daughter Sarah,son-in-law Brian, and granddaughter Cecila, leaving the trail and entering the event.
It was a perfect night for our 1st Annual Tree lighting at Parmelee Farm. Thank you for being such an important component for what we are trying to do there. I hope we have many more events like this one. Keep the pictures coming!

  3. I was just about to say that looks like Parmelee Farm and then I saw the comment about it. Good weather for a hayride!

  4. I wish Diane Sawyer would put more events like this on the evening news. I love the towns that make their places so very special. It's what brings us back home.

  5. Amazing…and the memories are priceless! Have you watched the movie, New in Town with Rene Zellweger? There are some beautiful Christmas scenes in the movie and it is one of my favorites now! ♥
