Hey locals!
I bet you’ll remember the old Marty’s Seafood Restaurant in Westbrook on Route 1.
When I was a young’un it was my favorite place to get breakfast
(good coffee!)
or a hotdog on a summer afternoon.
Their actual Seafood (mostly fried) was just OK…
but it was a staple around these parts for many years.
I missed it when it was gone.
I bet some of you have been to their car shows in the parking lot…
Marty’s changed hands a few times…
it was Rays for a while…
but I guess Ray gave up the ship.
Welcome SOPHIA’S…
What was once a sea chanty is now an Italian Restaurant..
and a pretty good one at that.
What’s even better is that the prices are reasonable
and the portions are big…
the bread? DIVINE coming from New Haven…
Which is a real bummer for this gluten free girl.
oooh, the fried Mozzerella and fresh bread….
…and Rosemary infused olive oil for bread dipping….
pitcher of lemon water…
drool~~~ Thank you Lord for Italians and Italian food, my favorite! Looks like a cool place to go. I love the hang out style places, Mom and Pops with local flavor. We really don't have many here, just chains and that's not near as much fun. Now I'm going to have to make some Ziti for dinner!
OMG – I want every damn thing in this post. Mmmmm!
Looks divine!!!
If I only lived close enough to go there. I love authentic Italian eateries! There's one here in Louisville that's called Amici's. It's a bit of a hidden treasure which makes it even better.
Blessings,
Leslie
Love that place!
Every bit of that food looks 'to die for' and I would totally dine out there. Of course we are Italian food freaks.
I don't know why I was born of German heritage and not Italian. And bread? Oh dear, I miss my younger days when I could eat it all day long and not even consider something like gluten.
My husband and I are always looking for a good restaurant to stop at on the way home from our occasional days in NYC…now if I can only remember this! Will have to find a way to save it to my iphone:)
STOP IT!!! Your pictures are making me hungry!! The food looks wonderful. I love Italian!
Wow! The food looks wonderful. I never tire of Italian!
XO,
Jane
you are making me SO hungry.
There are no words. Everything looks so good! If I lived near there I would weigh 700 lbs!
*Drool* Looks delicious and we eat a lot of Italian food.
You eat pasta on your gluten free diet?
Looks good! I didn't know you were a gluten free girl, but good for you! 🙂
Looks good Karen! Are you totally gluten free? What a time we had with Ben's little grandson…not only totally gluten free, but insulin dependent as well. For a five year old, life is tough…and VERY tough for his mom!
Wow, that food sure looks YUMMY!!!
Well you've certainly made my mouth water!
Love that food (Italian) being one of my favorites, and nice vette as well. Richard
Receber sua visita será uma surpresa maravilhosa.
Gostaria que também seguisse o meu espaço que, a partir de hoje torna-se extensão de sua casa, para minha alegria.
With love to you!
PSALM 23
THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD,
That's Relationship!
I shall not want,
This supply is!
MAKE ME WALK IN GREEN PASTURES,
This is rest!
He leadeth me beside the still waters,
This is refreshing!
He restores my soul,
This is healing!
GUIDE ME FOR THE PATHS OF JUSTICE,
That's Guidance!
FOR THE LOVE OF YOUR NAME,
This is on purpose!
THOUGH I WALK THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH,
That's Testing!
I will fear no evil,
That's Protection!
Thou art with me,
That is fidelity!
YOUR STICK AND YOUR staff they comfort me,
This is discipline!
Prepare a table before ME IN THE PRESENCE OF MY ENEMIES,
This is hope!
UNGE MY HEAD WITH OIL
That's Consecration!
And my cup runneth over,
That's Abundance!
SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY A follow me EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE,
This is a blessing!
AND I WILL DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD
That's Security!
FOR LONG DAYS,
This is eternity!
May the Lord bless you and keep you!
Lucy.

I love Italian food. These plates look outstanding. The blob of ricotta really looks good.
