Scenes from an Italian Restaurant

Hey locals!
I bet you’ll remember the old Marty’s Seafood Restaurant in Westbrook on Route 1.
When I was a  young’un it was my favorite place to get breakfast
(good coffee!)
or a hotdog on a summer afternoon.
Their actual Seafood  (mostly fried) was just OK…
but it was a staple around these parts for many years.
I missed it when it was gone.
I bet some of you have been to their car shows in the parking lot…
Marty’s changed hands a few times…
it was Rays for a while…
but I guess Ray gave up the ship.
Welcome SOPHIA’S…
What was once a sea chanty is now an Italian Restaurant..
and a pretty good one at that.
What’s even better is that the prices are reasonable
and the portions are big…
the bread? DIVINE coming from New Haven…
Which is a real bummer for this gluten free girl.
oooh, the fried Mozzerella and fresh bread….
…and Rosemary infused olive oil for bread dipping….
pitcher of lemon water…

  1. drool~~~ Thank you Lord for Italians and Italian food, my favorite! Looks like a cool place to go. I love the hang out style places, Mom and Pops with local flavor. We really don't have many here, just chains and that's not near as much fun. Now I'm going to have to make some Ziti for dinner!

  2. Looks divine!!!
If I only lived close enough to go there. I love authentic Italian eateries! There's one here in Louisville that's called Amici's. It's a bit of a hidden treasure which makes it even better.
    Blessings,
    Leslie

  3. Every bit of that food looks 'to die for' and I would totally dine out there. Of course we are Italian food freaks.

  4. I don't know why I was born of German heritage and not Italian. And bread? Oh dear, I miss my younger days when I could eat it all day long and not even consider something like gluten.

  5. My husband and I are always looking for a good restaurant to stop at on the way home from our occasional days in NYC…now if I can only remember this! Will have to find a way to save it to my iphone:)

  6. Looks good Karen! Are you totally gluten free? What a time we had with Ben's little grandson…not only totally gluten free, but insulin dependent as well. For a five year old, life is tough…and VERY tough for his mom!

  7. Receber sua visita será uma surpresa maravilhosa.
Gostaria que também seguisse o meu espaço que, a partir de hoje torna-se extensão de sua casa, para minha alegria.

    With love to you!

    PSALM 23

    He restores my soul,
    This is healing!

GUIDE ME FOR THE PATHS OF JUSTICE,
    That's Guidance!

FOR THE LOVE OF YOUR NAME,
    This is on purpose!

THOUGH I WALK THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH,
    That's Testing!

    I will fear no evil,
    That's Protection!

    Thou art with me,
    That is fidelity!

YOUR STICK AND YOUR staff they comfort me,
    This is discipline!

Prepare a table before ME IN THE PRESENCE OF MY ENEMIES,
    This is hope!

    UNGE MY HEAD WITH OIL

    And my cup runneth over,
    That's Abundance!

SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY A follow me EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE,
    This is a blessing!

AND I WILL DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD
