See how the Garden Grows

I’ve come to know a lovely lady who is also a transplant from New York. We are both passionate about a town property of historical significance that will become a hub for historical, agricultural, recreational and educational activity and Michelle has put many many hours into the project in various ways.  It’s an exciting time to be involved in the development of such a place.  She  is  knowledgeable in all things horticultural and  has graciously put together a selection of vintage fragrant peonies for my new gardens at This Old House. They include the Mrs. Jules Elie, Mrs. Euclid Snow, Mrs. FDR and Nancy Nicholls variety.

Thank you, Michelle –

  1. Beautiful! There were peonies here when we moved in and I'm so thankful for that! I'm not sure which varieties they are (there are two types) but one is white with just a hint of pale pink and the other is like your second photo! I'm praying they don't open for another week since I need them for a wedding!!!

  2. Flowers have such perfection and beauty in their soft pink petals, don't they? Peonies are ALWAYS a memory for me of my grandmother's house where peonies lined her driveway. Love them… thank you for posting these photos.

  3. My mother is wanting to give me her peonies… and I can't wait to have them! She has 4 bushes and they are just starting to get buds finally.

These are just beautiful and I am so in awe of all you have done to stay true to the time period of the house!
