In the mail today there was a small, brightly colored envelope among the ugly bills. In that cheery envelope I found a handmade Valentine. I marveled at the thought that someone stills makes Valentines by hand, and even more so that someone feels I’m worthy of it. And then I thought of all the years of handmade Valentines with my two kiddos.. a table full of doillies, glitter, stamps, glue, stickers and candy hearts. I don’t know who had more fun making the mess, them or me.
When did I stop making them….. and more importantly, why?
We just gave our neighbor a valentine. She was all "I haven't gotten a valentine in YEARS!" More people should share them, it makes you feel special 🙂
So??? What are the answers to those questions? And what is the name of that pattern on the Tea Set? Very lovely and delicate. But, I don't recognize it.
Watch for my next blog! And don't forget to stop by on Valentine's Day when the self proclaimed Queen of Hearts is busy valentining!

What a nice surprise! I bet it made your day. 🙂
You should start again Karen! It is fun!
My husband always paints a valentine for me:) My daughter took a photo for OXOXO of making valentines with her childen…I bet I am going to get one of those!
I found one in my mailbox today too. It made my heart speed up a bit and then I smiled right out loud! Hugs-Diana
I used to make valentines with my kids the same as you did…then they got a little bored and I was doing them alone! Other than from my husband, I haven't received a valentine in years!
XO,
Jane
How nice that someone thought of you. I don't get them any more. Love the photo.
I think it's wonderful that you got a surprise in the mail and it turned out to be that. We got a different surprise today and tomorrow, we go to the local social security office to straighten things out. Or try to. I would have much preferred a valentine.
What a nice surprise for you. I have to admit I tried making some paper valentine doilies — but somehow they didn't look as good as when I made them in 3rd grade. 🙂
I bought hand made valentines to send to our grandchildren. I had fun decorating the envelopes and then I thought….what am I doing? Why didn't I make the valentines myself? Next year.
I am anxiously waiting for the Roaming Gnome project to be revealed!!
I get lots of handmade cards from my grandchildren.. they always make me laugh… such cuteness on a card.

How sweet…and I agree, wouldn't it be more fun to make some Valentines…with red construction paper, glue and glitter? I love this idea! ♥
And, even more importantly…why aren't you making them NOW? -smile-
I make shortbread and give it to neighbors for Valentine's Day; it doesn't last as long as a card but, somehow, I don't think they mind.
