Before and After – Upstairs bedroom No. 1

We started with this… both the upstairs front bedrooms originally had fireplaces. Two kids – not happen’n.
and this bathroom used to be where the front hallway is now restored.
So this….
is now this.
Old wallpaper.. it was actually quite pretty at one time..
Yellow is her favorite color…
She actually keeps her room this organized, always.  When I was her age, well…no need to go there.
She makes me proud.

                                                                  Ben is not impressed.

Totally unrelated, if you’re looking for a great and easy summer recipe to use up those excess tomatoes from the garden, my friend Joey just posted two easy and delicious recipes… see for yourself at
Catch Joy As It Flies By.     I’m drooling over here!…..

  1. Karen, your daughter's bedroom is the cutest thing ever. I love it. It is so big and she has beams!! I love beams. I wish I had them in the great room. Her curtains are adorable. The picture of the dog sitting on the chair is too funny!

  2. Holy Smoke!!! I was ready to be dazzled, but oh my word! That is amazing!!!!! Her room is just divine with beams and all. What girl/woman/me wouldn't dream of a room like this!

  3. Your daughter's room is absolutely stunning! I LOVE it! AND she keeps it like that all the time?? Amazing. The beams are really beautiful and Ben is hilarious in that chair!!

  4. Kristen kills me!!! I wish my bedroom was half that neat. Love Be. I guess I will meet him when you invite me over for a glass of wineeeee???????n

Your daughter's room is wonderful. I am a fan of yellow myself!

Your dog is seriously large! Yes to the duh, but man oh man!

  6. Will you remake all of my bedrooms now please? Oh, and the family room and also gut the kitchen while you are at it and just start over from scratch.

  7. If my daughter kept her bedroom looking like that I'd be, well, I would think someone else moved into her bedroom! It's really beautiful and that dog is pretty darn funny too.

  8. Hi Karen!
I'm so happy today. We FINALLY got high speed, and I can FINALLY see all your wonderful photos!
(and leave comments when I visit)
I hope you have a magazine prepared to run a full article about your fantastic home. It's so very beautiful!

  9. That photo of Ben is just hilarious 😉 Our Biggles does the same thing sometimes. Cracks me up every time.

Your daughter's bedroom looks likes it comes out of a 'beautiful homes' catalogue or something. Gorgeous.
