We’ve got a crew here this week putting in the brick walkways and patio in the back…they work with lightning speed, I’m amazed.
Jeff Klausen is back on the job installing cabinets he made at the shop, beautiful craftsmanship. This one will hold glasses and have a counter underneath… located between the kitchen area of the ‘keeping room” and the dining room table area.
This corner cabinet is now located in Mike’s office, or what used to be the parlor.
The stairs are near completion…
Front of the bar in the loft sided with old barn wood….
Behind the bar…. Pool table will be in the back left corner of this picture…
Are the balusters pre-fab or custom turned?
And I understand how a cupboard got its name. But what about a "Counter"?
A brick sidewalk… lovely to say the least! They age so nicely too and will look original to the house at some point… Good choice!

Love the brick sidewalk. I would love to add some kind of stone to ours some day. Your stairs look great and love that corner hutch. I love watching all this come together and I am sure you are so excited.
You are bringing in so much character and charm with your choices. I think once I moved in I may not want to leave! Everything just seems to be coming together so beautifully.
Your sidewalk looks wonderful! And I LOVE that old barn wood!

Brick layers are true artists! I love to watch them work.
We aquired a huge load of brick last year from an old home that was
torn down 🙁 It came from the childhood home of one of our neighbors. He is 92! When I knew the home would be coming down, we asked if we could purchase the brick. He said yes!
The day we went to pick up the load, I had the check ready; just needed the amount. He said he had made a decision and I just knew he had changed his mind….
Instead he had decided to GIVE us all the made-by-hand bricks, as a gift.
He said he really appreciated all the work and love we have put into our 112 year old home. It made him happy to know we respected it!
(Our home belonged to his uncle).
So far we have done several projects with the brick. It fits our old home just perfect!

The bricks are perfect for your walkway! And that old barn wood is to die for….everything is coming together! When you get this done…you will just want to stay home ALL THE TIME and admire your work!!!
You already know how I feel about all this… and where I'm sitting!
The stairs look good! And so does everything else. 'Good' isn't the right word. 'Wonderful' comes closer. I like how the corner cabinet in the office has the same sort of window as your house.
Did I mention I just LOVE your house? (I did, I know.)
…i love that corner cupboard…it is gorgeous. the view from the stairs is amazing…i can't wait to see it when it is finished! xoxo, mickey
Karen, all of these finishing touches are unbelievable!! I love what you're doing to this place, and I can't wait for more (and more and more). How exciting!

I love everything you're doing. It has been years since I've had a major house project to work on. Sigh!
Have we all wrangled promises out of you to photograph each room in its entirety when complete? I want details on the loveliness.
Such an awesome job and gorgeous detail.
