Should I be reading more into this? I’m getting visions of Amityville Horror here, I’m not kidding. For those of you who might have also been horror show obsessed back in the day, remember the flies?
We’ve got them. In the hundreds. All over the house. But they especially like to taunt you when you’re eating, typing on the computer or trying to brush your teeth!!!…. We have been windex zapping them, vacuum sucking them, fly-stripping them, but..they… are… everywhere.
Wouldn’t have anything to do with soneone’s brilliant idea of a few tons of Chicken Sh*t sitting in the back field under a tarp waiting to fertilize hay fields, now, would it? …… Actually, I sure hope so… because the Amityville horror thing? Ain’t happen’n here.
Maybe I should summon a priest out to bless the house just to see if he has any fainting spells, profuse sweating or sudden violent illness upon entering. *sigh*
Too funny. Yes, it probably is the pile of poop bringing in the little buggars.
I know insects all have a purpose, but not so many at once for heaven sakes. I think our stink bugs are finally under control, last year it was lady bugs infesting us in biblical proportions! HA!
Wow, you did a good job with those photos. I'm very, very impressed.
And slightly scared 😉
At our last house, we used to get thousands and thousands of flies in our garage (not in the house, thank goodness). I was told they were called cluster flies and they came back every year. Yuck.
On the up side…that is a terrific fly photo!!
It IS scary looking over here!!! YIKES Karen! You do not want any Amityville things happening!! Hope you get the flies under control soon!!! Perhaps removing the chicken "stuff"??
We get flies every year, but not in the numbers you're describing. Yuck! (Weird … I do the Windex thing, too.)
I did the chicken ummm manure:) thing once on my front yard. Once was enough…the neighbors couldn't take a joke and the flies were more than ready to move in. There is a fly trap thingy you can buy and hang up outside your door..it works wonderfully by trapping them inside the jar, but remember to take it down the minute it gets full or the odor is worse than the chicken ummm manure.
Oh shivers, yuck. I'll bet its the pile of yuck too. But a blessing couldn't hurt too right?
Used to live in the country in an old farm house….there was a corn field next door. I finally figured it out….the flyhas this crazy life cycle.

Anyway, you need to bomb the house, and the attic….at least once a year……I ususlly did it every fall, and that cured the problem.
I would love to have a halloween party in this spooky looking home –Your post was funny -we to have these nasty flies through the day -we have two dogs we let them out, we let them in -not just the dogs but the flies too.
Are you kidding me with that photo of the fly?
How good is that? How creepy are they up close?
Yeah, I'm thinking your new pile of chicken stuff has something to do with it.
Those photos are awesome.
I could have SWORN you were talking about those stupid stink bug/potato bug things we are always infested with at this time of year. HATE those things!!! Thankfully no flies though! The ladybugs can't be far behind. Last year INFESTED until late March! Hopefully the flies will be gone with the first frost?
We get a lot of flies at times – I think they come from out old 1891 basement. They seem lethargic and not quite right….
xo

Get that fertilizer turned into the ground ASAP! Flies give me the willies, hate the buggers even though they are a necessary part of nature. Like your new wallpaper, very autumnal.
I am sorry, but I totally laughed out loud!!! That is nasty. Tell your loved one to move the poop!!! Your new header and paper are awesome!! You are a talented photoshopper or something! That is just too cool!
Ummmm, it is the chicken poo. But this is the end of their life cycle so they are trying to get the most out of the last of the warmish weather.
I thought you were going to say you had stinkbugs. But I see now that it's the cs that may have attracted them! Gross.
