She’s here! And what a gem!
That’s my dad in the photo below – M picked him up at the nursing home and we had a nice visit. There are times when we feel not-so-great about him living in a “home”, but at the end of the day, it is without a doubt the right place for him to be. At the time of his last heart attack, he wasn’t taking care of himself, hadn’t cooked for himself in years, hadn’t cleaned his little house in years, wasn’t doing his laundry, wasn’t taking his meds properly, and his driving was unsafe. We had been maintaining his property for him for years, trying to give him as much independent living time as possible. If you read here often, you know our relationship is a tough one. Living here with us is just not an option – he’s lucky we do what we do. But.. I admire this in him – he has made a decent life for himself at the home, and that’s where I feel good about the decision to place him there. First of all, it’s a good one – clean, updated, friendly knowledgeable staff and lots of activities for those who are still fairly active. He has made friends and has a social circle. He is now the president of the residents association, and joins in the activities. All is well that ends well.
Where do we draw the line?
I’ll be bold here and ask one thing of you…. No matter what your political affiliation, please above all else, stand up for and demand truth, integrity, decency.. from our leaders. Please don’t condone childish juvenile bully behavior. Our children are watching, the world is watching….. the integrity of our future depends on it.

See how they’ve grown! Almost ready to leave the nest…
Below are a few images (not mine) of homes on some of the Thimbles… they range from tiny to huge and each has it’s own charm. Each also has it’s own funky commute – small boat access only! Ugh, think of when you’re baking a cake for company and realize you’ve run out of eggs or milk or toilet paper or garbage bags. On a rainy day.
For that reason, I’m grateful Stella’s “island” isn’t really an island.

The Greatness…. it’s Yuge.
Just curious… at what point exactly is it safe to assume no one believes absolutely everyone but the POTUS is a liar? The guy who contradicts himself constantly, lies to the public openly, documented, not fake news when it comes out of his own mouth, those guys you all thought were swampy until they stood next to 45, the guy who throws his own people under the bus when it suits him, that guy. Jesus, NO ONE is going to want to work for him. I’m surprised we aren’t yet seeing resignations left and right. Unless… could it be true, the swamp is even swampier than we thought?

Wordpress is more “technical”.. not as easy at first, needs some patience, of which I am in short supply, always..just my nature. And.. it’s not free. If I understand correctly, the most basic costs about $100. a year. If that’s all I’d have to spend on it, it’s worth it to OWN your content and know it is not going to be erased by parent company. However, their security isn’t as high (google has much bigger security program) , bigger chance of hack with WordPress. Then there’s the tricky issue of transferring your blog to WordPress… not easy from what I have read. Can any of you tell me your experience? I think a few of my blog friends use WordPress.
