Hope Springs Eternal

One of the biggest mysteries to me right now is how Kelly*nne C*nway and her husband are still married. I know what its like to live with someone with differing political opinions, but their situation takes place on an entirely different playing field. Can you imagine being a fly on that wall at dinner time? And If ever my boss called my spouse, the father of my children, a loser? publicly? … it’s the day I quit my job. I used to think she was pretty dumb to be willing to stand in front of the cameras and spin the lies, twist the words, contort herself to please the man she once called a whiner and unpresidential as she supported T.Cruz.   But it’s evident now she’s ambitious, cunning like her boss, enjoys the theatrics and her place in the WH.

As time rolls on, Tr*mp’s mental state becomes more unhinged. He must be exhausted by the end of each day – throwing all those punches continuously.   I can’t feel sorry for a man who lies and cheats and insults and disrespects as if it’s his own form of religion.   His divide and conquer mentality within our own country is a horrible threat to our democracy, it destabilizes us all.   His allegiance to ruthless superpowers who have been trying to destroy America for ages is so alarming.  What’s truly scary for me is…  his supporters don’t see it , or if they see it, they don’t care.   I don’t understand how it can be lost on anyone… the very simplest and biggest truth … and don’t take my word for it – look to the world’s history for the answer…

Never until now would I have believed that a man who wasn’t even admired in his home state because he was a cheat, a con, a user,  certainly not a philanthropist, a thrice married  multiple spouse cheating  draft dodging tax evader who called his own daughter a nice piece of ass and was caught saying he just grabs women by the pussy because he can, … would garner such a following by people who would normally be appalled at the behavior.   His total disregard for truth on the little things, let alone the big things,  the environment, animal welfare, our public lands should alarm anyone.   We only have one earth and we’re trashing it –  His rollbacks  in these vital arenas are all about greed, how is this appealing at all?   There’s nothing normal about this cult following, and it’s destroying the fabric of our country with each vile, juvenile, false tweet he puts out.  It’s disgusting.  I am so sad, mad, concerned.. for our Country.

When this shitstorm has blown through and we pick up the pieces of our democracy, sew up the rips in the fabric of our communities, our government,  our friendships, even, I hope we finally find a way to  embrace each other  for our differences, work together to heal the divides, respect each other’s voices and hear the concerns, be open to the options so that we can work together to fix what’s so very broken.

Am I naive?  Maybe so. But on this, the first day of Spring 2019 ….  I’ll hold on to hope and continue to do what I can where I am to help mend the fabric,  make it stronger than it apparently was.  We each have that power in the little ways we are able – … drops in the ocean with the hope that America will continue to swim,  striving for peace and prosperity and diversity and good will – and continue to be a beacon of hope for all.

In the spirit of such… I’ll share with you the first tiny little sprout coming out of the seeds I’ve sown and placed on the window seat in the family room of This Old House…  a little bumble bee cherry tomato is the first to break through – not the mighty beefsteak. Go figure.

Weighing In

Have you been watching M*chael C*hen’s testimony?  I did something I’ve been putting off for a year instead.  I cleaned my kitchen cabinets.  Not the dishes one or the bowls one or the glasses one. Those are easy… I’m talking the cooking spices and oils one, the junkdrawer-but-it’s-a-cabinet one, the other glasses one that turned into everything but the kitchen sink.   The baking supplies one…The coffee mugs and pods and filters one.   I got so giddy with all that –organization – that I then turned the corner into the pantry and attacked the medicine cabinet that is also the pets and livestock medicine cabinet.  My husband is Type A all the way, so for him, coming home to a kitchen and pantry full of neatness and ducks in a row is better than sex.  He was a happy camper last night for sure.
Meanwhile, I did tune in to the news now and then just to see if any bombs went off.  Nope… stuff we already knew…. it was just highlighted and underlined.   Although those who still support Tr$mp don’t really care, I know this.
Who would have ever believed that a man who cheats heavily on his taxes and refuses to divulge them, a man who has never lifted a finger to help the common man, a man who dodged the draft by having his wealthy father pay off a doctor to falsify his medical records, a man who has cheated again and again on wife number 1, 2 and 3… has four bankruptcies and many failed businesses and unpaid contractors and lawsuits under his belt,  a man who repeatedly lies day after day and this is proven time after time, a man who attacks anyone who does not bow to him or questions policy he’s driving, a man who’s MO is to divide this country, not unite it… would have a following, enough to get him elected, enough to continue to follow him, apparently right over a cliff.    It’s dumbfounding.
The G0P attacks C*hen as a liar, while they defend the Liar in Chief… The only Lie C*hen originally told was that Tr$mp did nothing wrong.  How’s that for irony.   It’s truly hypocrisy at it’s boldest.   At least to me, The G0P has destroyed it’s own credibility – First they laughed at the notion that he could win the nomination, calling him things we know he truly is… then they bowed to the King, now defending him because he is currently their only ticket on the train.
Meanwhile – during that testimony – the personalities of those doing the questioning came through loud and clear.  Some of the old regime, Dems and Reps alike,  sounded shrill and stupid and holier than thou.   The ones who came up with the most effective questioning were women, in particular the enthusiastic freshman so many like to attack, A0C.   It’s true, sometimes she comes off as the overzealous puppy at the dog pound, but she’s coming through slowly but surely with an honest evaluation of the clusterfuck we have now.   As I’ve said before, I don’t align with any one particular party, I want to hear what they all have to say and I want to believe in the good intentions and vote on the right path for the troubles of our time.   Views to the extreme in any one direction – right or left – won’t be effective or practical – that’s what I feel, anyway.  Some of her ideas are not realistic, and she may be the rookie, but she is genuine and in many cases spot on, and  it’s clear she isn’t bought by anyone.
If you don’t agree with these words below and you were chanting “Drain the Swamp”… what swamp were you looking to drain?

In the end, I believe Mr. C*hen was telling the truth – he’s got nothing to gain now by speaking out.   He described the thug many of us already knew occupied those presidential suites, he underlined what was already written on the wall.   Many people who voted for him knew he was not stellar, but they wanted a big change, they wanted someone who wasn’t bought, not an old school politician. What they got was far worse, and I will continue to hope enough of them can’t in good conscience continue to abide the level of division and deceit in the web he’s been spinning since election.  I hope they see him for who he really is, and decide our country is worthy of something better.  I truly believe this Country we all love is in big trouble, and I pray We the People will  eventually, sooner rather than later,  right the ship.
Speaking of ships – my mother repeatedly reminds me that getting upset over all that we cannot control is not good for the fibromyalgia… lol… and I know it’s so!   This quote below…. truth that can be applied just about anywhere….
It’s a new day, all – let’s make it the best it can be.

Dear 2020

First … let me complain about the absolutely Godless bone chilling cold that has temporarily descended upon us here in New England.  It’s not like we have never experienced it.. but this came on REAL quick.. I mean a drop of 40 degrees in hours, and the wind.. the WIND.  I say it’s temporary because in two days, if they’re correct in the forecasting, it will be up in the 40’s again, as opposed to the 2 degrees we have today – with a wind chill of -15.
Below:  6 a.m., looking up to the horse barn, where you can see a tiny patch of light in the feed room.  The full moon was radiant! Phone pics don’t do this justice.  When I stepped outside to feed horses and chickens, my breath froze on my face mask immediately.  Ugh.
Frost on the window panes…
Speaking of freezing – This government shut down is something, huh? My friend’s son is a Coastie, and the outpouring of support for these guys and girls who are protecting us on the waters and not being paid for it is reaffirming.  There are so many good folks out there! We need to see more of them.

**If you’re a Trump fan and you still believe in and support him, feel free to exit now.  I used to care that I might offend people with my opinions… in this case, and in this space which is my own, given what he’s done to us as a people, and the ignorance of ignoring the harm, the real damage, I don’t.

I look forward to and hope for and pray for the day ( and I hope we all live to see it) when the old regime is cast from our government and new, brave, honest faces in the Republican and Democratic parties come forward and heal this thoroughly tainted and corrupt, hate fueled divide.  We need a governing body that will repair our integrity, our humanity, our leadership status in this one world we all share.  A Government that can work together for the common good once and for all, to fix our broken realities.  It’s absolutely possible!  But the current cast of characters  have become so bought and embittered of each other and bold with the multitude of deceits.. they are failing us all miserably.
Some of my Tr*mp supporting friends are now saying if they knew then what they know now, they’d never have voted for him – One said to me today – “I had no idea he would be so totally unhinged, and so reckless with his speech and tweets.  So callous with truth. I’m mortified. I wanted change, but I didn’t  want us to collectively sell our souls in the process.  Right now it feels like that to me.”
That… was a breath of fresh air for me.

Dear 2020….    Send us a leader who can heal the divide, reach across party lines and bring us back together as a people, as a government.   Send us a leader who gives hope, inspires, encourages, lifts us. ..all.

Is it too late?  Are we past the point of redemption?  All this tribalism, this Us Against Them, the continued racism and prejudice… has been brewing for a very long time –  it’s not new, but it’s emboldened, when we, or at least I,  thought we were actually becoming more    civil, more tolerant, more enlightened, more gentile as a nation.  These past two years have been a real eye opener, I was indeed naive.     Tr*mp has  given these malignancies in our society permission,  free reign,  but he didn’t create them.  They were right there under the surface all along, waiting for the spark to ignite them, breathe new life into old prejudices.

Dearest 2020 – send us those miracle workers, please.

Snow Day

Under normal circumstances they don’t like each other- they argue over who’s the boss, they don’t always perceive the same things as dangerous or even agree on who’s a friend and who’s a foe. They don’t share well with each other, but somehow the storms change things. Butt to Butt- they weather those  storms and find common ground, they find comfort in each other. We could learn a few things from dogs…..

Something I took for granted for all these years-  Democracy. I never realized how truly fragile it is, and at any point in history, what we depend on can come crumbling down.  Maybe a dividing, lying, egotistical blowhard like Tr*mp had to happen in order to flush out all the corruption, the hypocricies, the bigotry, racism and  blind allegiances that clearly still course through the veins of our republic.  Maybe all the shortsightedness on both sides of the aisle and the less than stellar motives of some of the extremists, both left and right,  needed to be exposed in order to eventually heal what is clearly very broken.

I’m encouraged by the good things that are coming of this collosal mess, people are voting, for one thing.  Women are coming forth and getting elected at record rate – Republicans and Democrats are questioning some of the failings of their own parties and striving for something better.  In many places We the People are being heard.    Amen… and Amen again.

Last night we had our first real snow fall –

This morning it’s all pretty wet, with rain in the forecast.

The green thing in the upper right hand corner is the umbrella I was using to shield me from the wind and drizzle as I fed horses and chickens. That’s the thing about these adorable farm animals.  Doesn’t matter the weather, they need their feed.  My morning commute …..

Opie, not particularly fond of selfies, waits impatiently for grain.

Fiona says Good Morning!   (actually, she’s clucking ” It’s cold – where’s my F-ing oatmeal” . Yep, she swears – I’m a bad influence, I know it. )

I’ve started the holiday decorating inside – not too christmas-y yet because we’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner here.  Nothing says disrespect for the Thankful holiday like Christmas up in your face before you’ve even carved the bird.

 Miss Sally’s favorite perch …..

Usually I have a coffee cake or brownies or cookies in the glass cake stand on the kitchen island. We’re all trying to watch our calorie intake ( we’re watching it, alright… as it goes in our mouths….)  and for some reason I believe we’ll eat less crap if it comes in small wrapped packages… ha ha ha… ha.

Anyway… a few chuckles for you on this dreary grey New England day….

I hope all is well in your neck o’the woods –
Till soon….

Time well spent

In my last post I shared with you our glorious fall weather down at our cottage by the sea.  Back here on the farm  I’ve been walking our little trail system with the dogs almost daily.  The sweet scent of fallen  decaying leaves is just as intoxicating up here.  ( jeez, you just can’t use that word “decay” in any way that it doesn’t sound like death.)   Anyway! …  The trail may not be a super long one, but it has monster hills – a good workout indeed.  This weekend my kids were around – My daughter to ride the horses and my son worked on his lot up over the hill where he will some day build his home.  When they were done with their “stuff”, they came to sit by the fire with mom and dad and the dogs, and then we went for a woods walk to work off those grilled smoked Gruyere cheese, tomato and thin sliced deli ham sandwiches.  We had calories to burn (damn it) !

This is a very large tree down at the edge of  my son’s lot – it’s twisted and split,
and depending on a much thinner tree to remain standing.

Bailey doesn’t come on my long walks, as she’s older and would have a hard time keeping up. I warned my son that this was the case, but he wanted her along (she was his dog from the start, and they still adore each other all these years later)  and so he ended up  carrying her a third of the time. At one point she belly flopped right into the stream, that’s when we knew she needed a rest.

 Now…
and
Many moons ago…

There is a thin stream running through the little valley at the back of our property, where the old spring is located. The farmers who lived here before used to  bring water up to the house and barn from this stream and spring.  The water runs cold and clear, and we do find the occasional fish, although it’s a rare occurrence. The stream dries out if we have a very dry summer.

Today I watered and fertilized the houseplants. This isn’t exciting, of course, but  tucked among my christmas cactus (beginning to bloom) and the too-big-for-it’s-pot Violet,  sits the lone geranium I brought home from Stella by the Sea.  This little gem isn’t aware the seasons have turned and she should be brown and shriveled. Pink pedals stretch and leafy stems reach out to touch the warm rays of the sun through the windows.  She’s content enough to bloom where she’s planted.

Instead of discussing the election (Voters showed up in record numbers to the polls!  More than 100 women elected to congress!  The House brings back some balance… woohooooo!) and  instead of regurgitating the most recent false news rants and diplomatic failures of the twitterer in chief, I’m going to share this simple image. It caught my eye for my age old love of the characters  and the action depicted…. and it’s powerful message  in these simplest words.

    Till soon, friends……

When Words Become Weapons

Words that have been weaponized by people in power who want to see a divided nation- Liberal, democrat, republican, conservative republican, immigrant.
Look up the actual definitions for each. All goals for a healthy society- necessary components for balance. Every one of our lives have been enriched in some way by various policies pushed through by any one of the above referenced affiliations. Each has its strengths and weaknesses- Indeed there have been fails as well, as there always will be with so many things at stake. That’s why it’s so important for any healthy functioning society to work through differences for common gain.
We’ve fallen so far away from that. Yes, political figures are partly to blame, but Some actually have good intentions, and shame on all of us for feeding off the greed of those who don’t. We are better than this. So I’m asking anyone who bothers to read my posts, no matter what your political affiliation, to stop spreading hate. Stop fueling division. Someone who may have saved your ass during a crisis may be of the very party you mock. Customers who support your small local business, The teacher that protected your kid from a bully? Ditto. The cop who came to your rescue? The firefighter, the babysitter, the guy who removes your trash.
Have your beliefs, but research them and leave the hate out of them. If you call yourself religious but do not act with kindness, compassion or empathy , you need to find a new religion or give it up entirely- because that’s just a hypocrite.
With that said, I’m getting off this particular soapbox. I hope someday the tide will turn in this country to stick with facts and civility as we tackle our many problems- what we have become is truly heartbreaking, and we will be our own demise if we don’t wake the fuck up.

We The People

We have a President who repeatedly refers to half the nation as the enemy. He referred yesterday to Democrats as a party of crime. He described them as he would a toxic gas. The press as the enemy of our country, prisoners of war are not heroes, disabled reporters he feels comfortable mocking, he dismisses sexual assault victims and female reporters, and berates anyone who doesn’t agree with him. He has never given one fuck about the average Joe in this country, not one thing points to that direction. Acquiring wealth and stardom have always been his goal. He was a Democrat until he decided to run for office and knew a large portion of the republican base would follow his fear mongering rhetoric, he knew what to throw on the fire to win. His biggest goal is to win and be the boss and be glorified. My words are certainly not the proof- his own actions are.
I cannot lie and say I don’t agree with some of his goals for our country. But selling our soul to accomplish those goals just isn’t worth it and isn’t even necessary.
We have many things to be thankful for in this country, and we can thank members of both parties for those gifts. The reason I am not affiliated with a party is- there are sound ideas and plans and accomplishments from both camps, always have been through history, I believe the combination brings sound answers to whatever the issues are – and fair balance. We are no longer open minded and we have a commander in chief feeding the divide. We all lose in the end with this kind of leadership.
I’m real tired of seeing people I consider friends mocking snowflakes. As if a snowflake isn’t the first person who reached out to you in a time of need, or opened their home or wallet to you when you needed it most. Maybe that libtard stood up for your kid when he or she was being bullied. The same can be said of  Republicans and Conservatives – perhaps they were the saving grace for you in a bad situation. It might be the right wing nut that changed your tire on the side of the road in the middle of the night. I’m tired of putting off an appointment because the person I would see thinks the man fueling this division is awesome. Awesome?? I don’t know how you can ignore the hate. Anything but awesome. But He shouldn’t have the power to divide us.
Anyone who bothers to read my social media posts knows I am open with my opinions and I use it regularly to voice them. I believe keeping the conversation going helps us solve problems and keep an open mind. I learn something from an opposing view sometimes too- isn’t that something. Social media is a great way to share family pictures , good news, lost dogs, items for sale, friends gatherings, jokes, recipes, and even political news. It’s also a good way to get really pissed off at someone you would otherwise have a lot in common with, someone you used to like and accomplish good things with .
Something we all have control over is how we talk to each other and what we put out there, what we promote. We also have control of who we let in our lives, and even who we allow to pollute it. I’m going to ask my friends ( anyone reading this) to stop promoting blatant hate in-the stupid petty mean ways the bots out there and our current President or any other politicians or people with agendas that are certainly not our well being promote unless it’s information only and not mocking and hate. They are not who we are. They don’t stand next to us at our volunteer events where we are actually accomplishing some good, together! They do not sit on the bus and share the weather or the family news or a smoke on the way to work in the morning. They aren’t holding the door open as you try to get in the elevator with many packages, they aren’t comforting you as you prepare to bury a loved one. They don’t bring food to your door when you’re going through a rough patch.
Investigate what you share, make sure it’s truth and not just a pathetic attack that happens to align with your party of choice.  This applies to all affiliations. Truth matters. Decency matters. We are not each other’s nemesis. That is a line being fed to us to encourage the divide.
United we stand. Divided, we fall. We are better than that.
We are all – We The People.
This is where I drop the mic- because all this division is exhausting and disheartening. Whether you agree with me on the President or not, I hope you’ll agree to the rest of this post. I hope I’ll see a “like” or a comment from friends of all political affiliations. We as a nation can find common ground again, together. We are the fabric- not the politicians. … we… the People. ❤️🇺🇸

Our Circus, Our Flying Monkeys

Our political system is absolutely ruptured- watching yesterday’s tragedy was heartbreaking on so many levels. I’m still in disbelief that that is indeed our circus- those are the flying monkeys that run our country. I truly feel we the people- Republicans, Democrats, left and right, are largely not being represented by those who stand for who we actually are as a country. The blame for what our system of governance has become lies all over the spectrum, and that’s largely why I am an independent.
As for Br*tt K*vanaugh, he is clearly emotionally unfit for a seat on the Supreme Court, whether he is guilty of the sexual assault he’s accused of or not. Funny how the people who are witnesses to the supposed act aren’t fit enough to testify. Would that have flown if it were a Democrat defendant? Hell no. Did anyone come away from her testimony thinking she was lying? How many times did he say he likes beer? His own yearbook reflects his attitude at that time , and classmates have come out saying he’s lying about other things. All that screaming and crying and spitting –  While you might be a Hillary hater, and I was not a fan, – under 11 hours of scrutiny before the same committee being accused of murdering four men, not once did she behave like the raging lunatic Kavanaugh became. And she did not murder those four men, whether you’ll interpret that mess that way yourself.  Me thinks he does protest too much. In case you didn’t know- he was playing to all beer drinking male voters who may have been “rowdy” in their young years- , right from the Trump play book.
As for the alleged victim- Who would put themselves in that position if they didn’t believe they were telling the truth? Nothing to gain! And a lot to lose.  Starting with the polygraph experience! So tired of every woman who stands up for themselves being dismissed BY OTHER WOMEN and especially by that disgusting administration and their hypocrisy when trying to undermine the opposing party over the years- No wonder most don’t report it!   L Gr*ham’s own words for his book regarding sexual assault victims apparently didn’t apply this time- of course! Hypocrite. All of it, broken.
Believe people when they tell you who they are.

Let’s go Horse Show! ..and other stuff…

Our new girl, Leah, was apparently foot sore due to a decision her previous owner made. She was letting her go barefoot behind to see if her feet would hold up.  We wondered why she only had front shoes, but figured if she was used to it, so be it.  Well, she wasn’t.  The great news is.. the farrier thought this was the case and without further expensive diagnostics we solved the problem with a set of hind shoes to match her fronts.  She’s sound again and as of Wednesday we’re off to our first horse show with Miss Leah and K.
The humidity is back – Seriously, enough already! We woke up this morning to windows wet on the outside, barely see-through-able…  I am so thankful for air conditioning and I’m praying we have decent weather for the show.  The heavy artilliary the horses and riders have to wear can be brutal in that kind of heat.    I spent this morning helping K condition her show tack and polish the silver on it… on our steamy back porch. Bleh.
We discovered K’s chaps are a little too snug, and it’s true they’re supposed to be snug but not breathtaking, if ya know what I mean.  Those suckers aren’t cheap, I sure was hoping we could get away with the old trusty pair,  especially after splurging on that ultra bling jacket. … but it wasn’t looking hopeful.  Until I discovered… CHAP EXTENDERS are a thing! Look them up!   Ordered and on their way.  Too bad they don’t make jeans extenders.   Someone out there should invent them, they’ll make their fortune. I could use a pair myself, I’d help the cause.

Did you watch John McCain’s services?  The eulogies by his daughter Meghan (powerful),  Kissinger (now that was an interesting choice, but sound words for a divided nation),  Bush ( best speech he has ever given, really)  and Obama ( always a poignant speaker,  maybe a little petty at a certain point, but powerful message as well)  had me in tears.    As my mother said… This is what we can be, let’s hope it lasts past Senator McCain’s burial.
I was curious as to what the Twitterer in Chief might be doing while everyone else was at the services.  It had to be hard on him,  not to be included.  So I glanced at his twitter feed, since that’s where he goes when he’s most frustrated.. and sure enough – he was spewing tweet after tweet after tweet, couldn’t help himself, I’m sure.  Such a little, little man.
The America of John McCain is generous and welcoming and bold. She’s resourceful, confident, secure. She meets her responsibilities. She speaks quietly because she’s strong. America does not boast because she has no need to. 🇺🇸The America of John McCain has no need to be made great again because America was always great.”🇺🇸
 – Meghan McCain
I hope  you’ve had an enjoyable Labor Day Weekend,
and all is well in your corner of the world.
Wish K and Miss Leah Good Luck!
Till soon, friends…

Friendly Firepits

I was going to write about The Orange Scream today, not because I think anyone out there needs one more opinion piece on the subject or that I’ll turn anyone’s thinking  around should your opinion differ from mine… but because personally I find writing therapeutic.   Let me just say this, cause I gotta be me – DJT is mentally ill, I’m convinced of it.  There is no defense for this brand of leadership that encourages violence and the divide of our citizens, using false narratives time and time again.   By ignoring what is right before our eyes, we are selling our souls for monetary gain, trashing the planet and our humanity along the way, awful thing.  I’m sad for all of us.
On to the friendly firepits. ….
We’re in the middle of yet another heat and humidity wave here in Connecticut. I’ve got fans on the horses, a fan on the chickens and bunny too.  I get the barn chores done early before the sun reaches out over the barnyard and the dogs are outdoors only for bathroom breaks.
We’ve been visiting the cottage as work and weather permits… The fire burning  below was the evening before the humidity returned. What a gorgeous night it was.
There is a tradition on Island called Friendly Firepits – Once a year on a specific day,  fire pits around the community are lit and the host of each firepit serves refreshments. All members of the community are encouraged to join any or all of the firepit gatherings and enjoy conversation and snacks/beverages with the hosts.   I think we need Friendly Firepits installed all around the nation, don’t you?

This is Stella’s friendly Firepit.  The Pink Flamingo float in the distance lives on….  we learned his name is “Filbert”.
The scow below is a neighbors – and I learned it’s story when I posted this pic on our community page.  This beautiful old blue boat is used to ferry people back and forth to a bigger boat now, and was the very first boat of it’s now 60- something owner  back when he was a young lad summering here on the island.  The “boy” and boat have been together for a very long time.
Meanwhile… we’ve got a horse show coming up… or not.  Miss Leah currently has a small abscess in a hind hoof wall.  Such is the unpredictabity of horse show life.  Depending on how fast it blows out and heals, we’ll either have a show next weekend.. or not.  Either is OK by me – a healthy rider and horse is my first concern.
Speaking of that rider – her show jacket has been taken in where needed, she’s ready to rock’n’roll.  How’s that for bling??..

Two friends introduced me to some fun apps recently –  flightaware24.com – a flight tracker that also tells you where the plane currently flying over your house is headed –  and yeah, we don’t really need to know that, but still, it’s kinda cool.
The other is skyview… point your cell phone up to the stars, and it tells you what you’re looking at and gives you some descriptive information, even maps out the constellations for you.  So much fun.  That bright red star I had been  looking at out over the fields is actually Mars!  That bright but much smaller white “star” out in the big distance is Saturn!
That’s all for now – thank you for stopping by
this little “friendly firepit”.
